Self Assessment Tool for COVID-19

Are you experiencing any of the following:

  • Severe pain or tightness in the chest;
  • Severe difficulty breathing (i.e. struggling for each breath, speaking in single words);
  • Severe abdominal pain;
  • Loss of consciousness;
  • Prolonged and persistent dizziness or headache;
  • An injury that may require stitches or involve a broken bone;
  • A child who has prolonged diarrhea or vomiting; or
  • A baby under six months of age with a fever of 38C (100.4F) or higher;

Do you have any ONE of the following symptoms:

  • New or worsening cough;
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing;
  • Fever;
  • Chills;
  • Sore Throat;
  • Runny nose, sneezing, congestion;
  • Headache;
  • Muscle aches;
  • Unusual fatigue; or
  • Acute loss of sense of smell or taste;

Please call 9-1-1 or go to your nearest emergency department.

You don’t need to call 8-1-1- right now.

If anything changes or you develop symptoms, you should call your family physician or nurse practitioner. If you do not have a family physician or nurse practitioner or are unable to reach them, call 8-1-1 for further assessment.

All Islanders are reminded to monitor their health closely.

Wash your hands frequently and keep 2 meters or 6 feet apart from others.

If you have (or had) symptoms, YOU MUST SELF ISOLATE.

Once you receive your COVID-19 test results:

  • If you recently returned to Prince Edward Island or have been exposed to someone who has been confirmed as having COVID-19, you MUST CONTINUE TO SELF-ISOLATE FOR 14 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THE TEST, regardless of whether a negative test result is received.
  • If you have no travel history and no known contact with someone who has been confirmed as having COVID-19, you are NOT required to continue to self-isolate after you receive a negative COVID-19 test; unless otherwise directed by public health.
